The Scottish Government has published a consultation into energy efficiency in the privated rented sector. The consultation seeks to bring forward proposals to ensure all privately rented homes in Scotland meet a minimum standard of energy efficiency and asks for views on all properties requiring a minimum Energy Performance Certificate rating of 'E' from 2019, rising to 'D' from 2022.

Registers of Scotland has announced the new digital application for Scotland’s register of landlords has gone live across the country. Developed by Registers of Scotland for the Scottish Government, the new application has been designed in collaboration with local authority landlord registration officers over the past 12 months.

In the Autumn Budget Statement the Chancellor announced Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) will increase from 10% to 12% from 1 June 2017. The rise will be the third increase since November 2015 and means IPT will have doubled from 6% to 12% in just over 18 months. 

All new policies renewing on or after 1 June 2017 will be taxed at the new rate of 12%.
