fishing holidays in the Hebrides

The fishing on North Uist is controlled by two bodies

North Uist Estate who control about 75% of all waters including all
Sea Trout and Salmon rights

North Uist Angling Club who control the remainder.

There are literally hundreds of lochs and lochans to choose from, many of
which are easily accessible from the roads.

There is no Sunday fishing.

boats available for fishing on North Uist

Brown Trout

Season runs from 15 March to 30 September.

Sea Trout

Sea trout can be found in sea-pools throughout most of the year but
generally move into the lochs until July. August and September are the peak months.

Salmon

Season runs from February 25 to October 15. The number of salmon caught in recent years has risen sharply due to careful fishing management.

Permits

We can assist with inexpensive fishing permits, boats and ghillie services.

Rods can be hired from the Angling Club and all tackle can be purchased at Clachan Stores.
